  • The Idoma are an ethnolinguistic group that mainly inhabits the western regions of Benue, Nigeria, and related groups are found in Cross Rivers State, Enugu State and Nasarawa State in Nigeria. Leur nombre est approximativement de 700 000 individus venus du soudan entre le IIe et le XVIe siècle. Ce très beau masque était habituellement porté par des sociétés de femmes à l’occasion de fêtes solennelles, durant l’exercice de la justice, les cérémonies funèbres et d’initiation.
